LinkedIn has more than 300 million members but most of its growing
revenue comes from a much smaller group of recruiters looking for
talent. Another big chunk comes from advertisers trying to reach member.
Third is LinkedIn’s paid service but the professional network is hoping
that growing its Premium Service will boost the entire pie.
LinkedIn LNKD +2.56% reported $643 million in fourth quarter revenue, up 44% from the same period a year earlier and ahead of Wall Street’s call for $616.8 million. Using generally accepted accounting principles net income was $3 million compared to $4 million a year earlier, but using the company’s adjustments net income was $77 million up from $48 million. On a per share basis adjusted earnings were 61 cents which beat the Street consensus by 8 cents. Full year revenue was $2.2 billion, up 45%. Adjusted 2014 net income was $254 million, up from $192 million, and adjusted earnings per share were $2.02.
